Movie Trailer Review: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

I first read the book “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” last year when my kids got the book from the local library. It’s an excellent book with great illustrations. We read it many times before taking it back.

When I saw a movie trailer on Hulu.com I was excited but concerned about what they did with the book. Here’s the trailer:

I thought that this is a great trailer. I like how they took the story of a grandfather’s “recollection of his past” into a story about a lovable “mad” scientist/hero. I look forward to seeing this when it comes out. This may even be good enough to see it in the theaters!

Everything is Amazing, Nobody is Happy

A great video that shows how “Everything is Amazing, Nobody is Happy”. It’s a video of Louis C.K. on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”. Thanks to Krishna at PCWeenies for the link.

It’s amazing, I’m sitting at a laptop that has probably has more power than the NASA rockets that went to the moon and wishing I had something faster. I think we can all appreciate the funny perspective that this video provides.

Thanks for visiting.

Twas the Night before a Weight Watcher’s Christmas

Merry Christmas!

My wife shared this poem at her Weight Watcher meetings this week. I don’t know the original source, it came from a very creative WW Staff Member.

Twas the night before Christmas and what thoughts did It bring?
My mind said to me, “Why not have a big fling?”

There were pies in the oven, sugared nuts in the jar
There were snacks for the party and booze in the bar

No! I’ll resist the temptation! I’ll keep a strong head!
I’ll not eat a bite! And I climbed into bed

When out of my stomach there came such a roar
I sprang from my bed, landing flat on the floor

Away to the kitchen I flew like a flash
Tore open the fridge to do something RASH!

The light from within gave a heavenly glow
To the objects of food laid on trays there below

And about to indulge in a goodie or two,
I heard a bell jingle and stopped right on cue

Before I’d give in to a snack food to eat
I’d put on my coat and get out on my feet

Was it hunger I felt? Or was I just bored?
This year I’d think first, before my points soared

I put on my coat, my warm gloves and shoes
Determined to contemplate goodies I’d choose

The moon on the crest of the new fallen snow
And on houses and trees gave a sparkle and glow

As I walked down the street, my mind did recall
All the things that we’d said at the Weight Watchers hall

At my meetings that served me to motivate
With words of encouragement to help shed this weight

I spoke not a word when my walk was done
I felt so renewed — I knew I had won!

I walked into the kitchen, my Momentum books read
Had an orange, with a smile, and headed for bed

And I said to myself as I turned out the light
I will jingle, not jiggle — I have fought the good fight.

May this holiday season fill your hearts with joy and your souls full of peace. May the next holiday season find you healthier (and possibly lighter) than this one.

New Layout, New Approach

New Layout:
Eagle-eyed visitors may notice a couple of changes in the layout. The previous layout was based on an old version of the WP Theme Sandbox, where the code was heavily modified. I have created a new version of the layout where the only changes to the Sandbox theme was in the CSS files. It was a fun challenge to see if I could do it. Also useful for those who use WordPress.com and are able to modify CSS only.

A link to the Sandbox WP theme is in the footer of ever page.

New Approach:
This focus of this website has changed to be more of a blog than an online portfolio. All of the previous content is still available, but the blog posts are now the central focus. Topics that belong on my other websites will be found in their respective sites, but I will include blog posts on a larger variety of topics on this site.

Until next time…check out my twitter feed (in the sidebar.)
